【摘要】:Cablefillingandfloodingcompoundsarenormallysemi-solidatroomtemperatureandfluidinvaryingdegreesatelevatedtemperatures.Theyarenormallyappliedinaliquidstateandatanelevatedtemperatureduringwireandcablemanufacturing.Thecompletedfinishedwireorcableisexposedtovariousambientconditionsduringitsusefullife.Ifnotcarefullyselected,componentsoffillingorfloodingcompoundshavethepotentialtodegradethematerialstheycontact,shorttermorlongterm.Thefollowingmethodsareintendedtominimizethechancesofsuchproblemsoccurring.Someoftheeffectsthatmightoccurinclude,butarenotlimitedto:Delaminationofcoatedmetalshieldsorscreensincompletedwireandcable.Delaminationisprimarilyafunctionofthetesttemperatureandthetypeoflaminantused,sotestresultsareunlikelytovarysignificantlybetweenfillingorfloodingcompoundsofacommonfamily(forexample,petroleumbasedfillingorfloodingcompounds).Degradationofphysicalpropertiesofinsulation,jackets,corecoverings,etc.Likelymanifestationsofdegradationofplasticmaterialincludeembrittlementofsomematerialsandexcessivesofteningofothermaterials.Sincethemagnitudeofanygiveneffectwillvary,sometestprocedureswillbemorecriticalthanothers.Itisnot,therefore,intendedthateverylistedprocedurebeperformedwitheverycompatibilitystudy.Performprocedurestotheextentrequiredbyproductspecificationsorasagreeduponbetweentheproducerandthepurchaser.1.1Thesetestmethodsevaluatethecompatibilitybetweencablefillingorcablefloodingcompounds,orboth,andpolyolefinmaterialsusedinthemanufactureofwireandcablethatareusuallyinintimatecontactwiththefillerorfloodant,orboth.1.2Thesetestmethodsareusefultoensurecompatibilityandtoverifythatnewformulationsoffillingorfloodingcompoundswillhavenodeleteriouseffectupontheotherpolyolefinmaterialsbeingusedor,conversely,usethesemethodstoensurethatotherpolyolefinwireandcablematerialsareevaluatedforpossibleusenotdegradedbycontactwithfillersorfloodantsalreadyinuse.1.3Whenevertwosetsofvaluesarepresented,indifferentunits,thevaluesinthefirstsetarethestandard,whilethoseinparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.7.1Thistestmethodisspecificallyforpolyolefincoatingsonaluminumandsteelshieldingandarmoringmaterialusedintelecommunicationswireandcables.12.1Thistestmethodisspecificallyforpolyolefininsulatingmaterialsusedintelecommunicationswiresandcables.17.1Thistestmethodisspecificallyforpolyolefinjacketingmaterialsusedintelecommunicationswiresandcables.
